I live here too, and like you, I’ve watched council decisions and proceedings from the sidelines — sometimes grateful, sometimes confused, and sometimes frustrated. As I meet and listen to people in the Ward, I’m hearing that what matters to you is the same as what matters to me.

 

If you chose me as your representative, you can hold me accountable to these four main priorities:

 

• Effective planning

• Honest governance

• Responsible financial management

• Reporting back to you

Effective planning

Changes that affect all of us shouldn’t feel haphazard or as if they are determined by the loudest voices.

​

For effective planning, we need to:

​

1. Look far into the future for how we want our community to develop (community consultation to hear your opinion)

2. Draw a roadmap of possible paths and priorities to get there (strategic planning)

3. Make all decisions based on waypoints set out in the roadmap (collective and transparent decision-making).

Honest governance

I was inspired to run for council because I believe honest, fair, and democratic governance is possible.

​

I believe the role of council is to meet the needs of community and to make the best use of resources—human, financial and natural resources—while also protecting Calabogie’s heritage and natural environment.

 

I would be naïve to believe this is simple—given differing ideas and perspectives—but I do believe it is possible.

​

Responsible financial management

Big dreams have to fit into Calabogie’s financial means and community priorities. This means that we have to balance economic growth and development with smart and managed population growth. We can continue to attract and explore innovative opportunities while always ensuring they support economic development and managed growth while preserving the spirit of Calabogie.

Reporting back to you

We shouldn’t have to wonder how decisions are made in council, whether our voice has been heard, or if our ideas are considered with respect. As your councillor, I pledge open, honest, and timely communications so you can have confidence that I truly represent you in the decision-making process.
